Launching “Highcroft”

Marc Lien
Firstly, a massive thank you to everyone on this forum for helping this newbie boat builder through the dark times. I really appreciate the help and time you have given. Today was launch day of “Highcroft” - so called as that is where her little garage workshop resides. We trailed her for the first time today up to Rutland Water and got her bottom wet. No leaks (despite all my efforts!). The kids joined me for the shakedown sail in light winds. Made decent progress upwind and very well behaved. Getting the yard down was a different matter… also had a go at rowing and my disastrous oars worked really well in the thole pins. Will definitely explore further. A few pics and videos here and on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/p/CRKB__HBHFz/?utm_medium=copy_link Highcroft

P.S.
Lovely colour.
Lazy Jacks will control that yard.

Hi Marc, from one single garage-width constructor to another…really well done! She looks great on the water - and those sails look good on her. I look forward to sailing in company with you one day soon - are you planning to go to Clyweddog in August?

Hi Marc
John's spot on about the admiring looks.
As usual "Proteus" was amongst the slowest on the lake today, ("Maybe something to do with the skipper"; did I hear you say?), but several people commented on how beautiful she/he is.
Hope we'll see yours afloat soon.
